The Game is gearing up to join forces with Kanye West for his first Gangsta Grillz mixtape, helmed by DJ Drama.
During an appearance on Real 92.3 L.A.’s The Cruz Show, the Compton rapper unveiled plans for the project, including a sequel to his and Kanye’s classic Late Registration track “Crack Music.” The follow-up, titled “Crack Music 2,” was inspired by fans’ long-standing desire for The Game to add his verse to the original track.
Reflecting on the inception of the first song, he shared: “Ye called me to the studio and I rolled up. He wanted me to do a verse and get on the hook, but I had some fine shit in the car so I was like, ‘That’s that crack music, n-gga!’ and I left.”
“But the fans always was like, Man, you should have put a verse on ‘Crack Music,’ so we redid it.”
The upcoming mixtape, named “Every Movie Needs A Trailer”, marks The Game’s debut within the Gangsta Grillz series and is entirely produced by Mike & Keys — the talented duo known for their collaborations with Nipsey Hussle.
Expressing his enthusiasm, he stated: “It’s gonna be good, man. It’s my first time doing a Gangsta Grillz. [DJ Drama and I] always talked about it over the years … [We recorded it in] two days. 19 songs from scratch.”
Aside from Kanye West, the mixtape promises appearances by West Coast rapper Mozzy and R&B singer Jeremih.
While initially planned for release on November 28, “Every Movie Needs A Trailer” will now be released this Friday (December 5).
