The Weeknd has dropped a moody music video for “Drive,” a track from his latest album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow.”
Directed by Trey Edward Shults, who also helms the movie portion, the clip stars Jenna Ortega (who also has a lead role in the film). In the visual, the actress rides a Ferris wheel in a neon-lit carnival with The Weeknd, before she embarks on a long scenic drive through the day and night.
“And I roll the window down, don’t ever think I’ll be this happy/ You know I love autonomy/ ‘Cause fame is a disease,” Weeknd croons to open the track.
The Weeknd’s album “Hurry Up Tomorrow” came out in January and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. the movie is set to premiere in theaters on May 16.
The film, which also stars Barry Keoghan, follows a musician plagued by insomnia (Tesfaye), who is “pulled into an odyssey” by a stranger (Ortega) that unravels the “core of his existence,” per the official description.
The project was produced by The Weeknd’s Manic Phase and Reza Fahimalong with the late Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss. Executive producers include Ortega, Shults, Michael Rapino, Ryan Kroft, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, and Harrison Huffman.
