Will Smith surprised his fans with a teaser suggesting he’s starring in the new “Matrix” movie, but sources are claiming that it has nothing to do with the upcoming Warner Bros. project.
Previously the film studio announced a fifth “Matrix” installment with “The Martian” screenwriter Drew Goddard attached to write and direct, but knowledgable sources confirmed that Smith isn’t involved in the film franchise.
According to reports, the 56-year-old actor and rapper is actually working on a new music project, which will mark his first album in 20 years. His last record dates back to 2005’s “Lost And Found.”
Smith shared the short clip on his social media, describing his history with the film series, “In 1997, the Wachowskis offered Will Smith the role of Neo in The Matrix. Smith turned it down. He chose Wild Wild West, believing it was a better fit for him at the time. But the question remains: What would The Matrix have been like with Will Smith as Neo?”
It continued with the statements “Wake up Will…” and “The Matrix has you…”
