YFN Lucci pleaded guilty to one gang-related charge in Atlanta as part of a plea deal reached with prosecutors. The charge is connected to the late 2020 shooting of 28-year-old James Adams in Atlanta.
As part of a plea deal, the ATL rapper was sentenced to 10 years in prison with another 10 years of probation to follow.
Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, was initially facing more felony charges, including murder, as part of a 75-page, 105-count RICO indictment.
The rapper will receive credit for time served and could be made eligible for parole in the next four months. If the parole is granted, he would be eligible to serve the rest of his sentence on probation.
Not long after the news hit, the 32-year-old shared a message to his fans on social media.
“Thank you for all your prayers and continued support,” he wrote at the time. “I am still incarcerated right now, but [I] am maintaining my innocence. To all my fans who have continued to show love and support, I’ll have some new music and content on the way!”
“After three years of pretrial litigation, more than two weeks of jury selection, and three years of incarceration waiting for his jury trial, today, the prosecution finally relented and dismissed the murder and RICO charges against Rayshawn Bennett,” defense attorneys Drew Findling, Gabe Banks and Marissa Goldberg told Washington Post. “As he has maintained for three years now, Mr. Bennett will not cooperate in any other case.”
CNN reported that prosecutors claim his alleged Blood gang sector ran into conflict with the YSL group, who reportedly discussed seeking permission from rapper Young Thug to murder YFN Lucci.
