YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, is set to appear in court later this month for a hearing regarding his potential release on bond.
As reported by NBC 6 South Florida on Tuesday (March 31), the hearing is scheduled for April 30.
This development comes after prosecutors dropped several charges against him earlier this year.
On January 20, the day Melly’s retrial for murder was set to begin, charges of witness tampering, directing the activities of a criminal gang, criminal solicitation to commit murder, and conspiracy to tamper with a witness in a capital felony case were all dismissed.
Melly has remained in custody since 2019, following his arrest on charges related to the murders of fellow rappers YNW Juvy (Christopher Thomas, Jr.) and YNW Sakchaser (Anthony Williams).
His first trial ended in a mistrial in 2023, but prosecutors have opted to retry the case.
YNW Melly’s retrial for double murder has been set to take place in January 2027.
