Deamonte “Yak Gotti” Kendrick, one of two co-defendants left in Young Thug’s racketeering trial, has been stabbed in jail in Georgia over the weekend.
His lawyer, Douglas Weinstein, confirmed the incident, telling viewers that the “reports are true.”
“I don’t know his full medical condition, I don’t know his results at the hospital. It is very, very difficult, nigh impossible, to get information from this hospital on these things,” Weinstein said, asking people to “please keep Deamonte in your prayers, along with all those housed in our Fulton County jails.”
Gotti was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Yak Gotti was involved in an altercation with another inmate and required “treatment for minor injuries from a sharp object at the Fulton County Jail.”
They described Gotti’s injuries as “minor” and noted that he would be fit to return to court.
“This is an active investigation to determine the aggressor in this incident and if charges will be pending,” they added regarding the incident.
The YSL case now stands as Georgia’s longest criminal proceeding, which began following a sweeping 2022 indictment.
Young Thug was indicted on racketeering charges for allegedly running the Bloods-connected YSL gang, in honor of which he named his record label.
