Young Thug looks back on the past as he reflects on the loss of Rich Homie Quan, who passed away in 2024.

In a heartfelt post on his Instagram Story, he shared footage from their 2014 collaboration “Tell Em,” expressing his sorrow and regret.

Amid the grief, Thug took some time to openly contemplate what caused the rift between them, reflecting on where things might have gone astray.

“Never switched on u brada always road with u what happened [crying emoji],” he captioned the clip.

Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan emerged as influential figures in hip-hop during the mid-2010s, pioneering a new era for the genre. Together, they created hits like Rich Gang’s “Lifestyle” in 2014, which climbed to #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and secured the top spot on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

However, tensions between the two quickly arose in 2015. During a performance that year, Thugger referred to Quan as “B***h Homie Quan” and openly declared “F*** Rich Homie” at a show in Santa Ana, CA.

Tragically, Rich Homie Quan passed away in September 2024 at just 33 years old. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office determined his death to be the result of an accidental drug overdose.

In the wake of Quan’s passing, Young Thug expressed regret over not reconciling with his former collaborator before it was too late.

“We don’t speak on the dead. R.I.P. the boy Quan. I wish we could have made amends before he died. I wish we could have made amends before he died. But he passed away,” Thug said.
