Young Thug has received judicial approval to begin reclaiming property seized during his prolonged RICO case.
Among the confiscated items are several luxury vehicles, including a Lamborghini and three Mercedes-Benz models. Additionally, the rapper sought the return of various pieces of jewelry and legally owned firearms. Despite the prosecution’s efforts to oppose the motion, the judge ruled in favor of returning the items, though the decision remains subject to potential appeal.
Deputy District Attorney Jeff DiSantis shared his thoughts on the ruling, expressing both approval and puzzlement. He stated, “While we are gratified that the defendant will not be receiving gang-related jewelry back, we are perplexed that Judge Whitaker dismissed the case based on a timeline requested by defense counsel and a date the court set for trial. We are evaluating the case now for possible appeal considering that strange procedural history.”
Young Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steel, recently praised the rapper for his influence on exposing flaws within the justice system. Steel represented Thug throughout his contentious trial, and the two developed a strong rapport. In a short social media video, Steel — who later served as legal counsel for Diddy — commended Thugger for his impact on ongoing criminal justice reform.
He said, “Since your trial, Jeffery, there are more acquittals than there were before your trial. It’s because it’s related back to the fact that you showed that the criminal justice system is corrupt and prosecutors, at times, hide evidence. You did that. You are a hero. Thank you for teaching everybody the truth.”
