The YSL drama continues.
Young Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, and his attorney Brian Steel want a new judge for the 32-year-old artist’s ongoing YSL RICO case.
Thugger’s legal team is convinced that they will not be able to have a fair trial unless judge Ural Glanville, who is handling his case, is swiftly removed. According to TMZ, the rapper has formally submitted the necessary documentation to try and get the judge removed from the case.
The motion alleges, “The court has joined the prosecutors’ team and is biased against Mr. Williams and favorable to the prosecutors as objectively demonstrated on June 10, 2024, as well as throughout the pendency of this case.”

Young Thug’s lawyer confronted Glanville in court and castigated him for his decision to meet with a witness in private. Steel claimed that the witness in question, Kenneth “YSL Woody” Copeland, was told he would be imprisoned until the end of the trial if he refused to testify against Thug.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Young Thug case has already lasted 18 months. This makes it the longest trial in Georgia’s history.
Don Samuel, who represented rapper Gunna in a related case, criticized Glanville’s actions. “It is unconscionable, to put it mildly, what the judge has done,” the attorney told the outlet. “He became a bully and started demanding answers from a defense lawyer who was ethically obligated to challenge the procedures being used.”
The trial – which has been repeatedly plagued by arrests, charges and disruptions – began on November 27, 2023. Defense attorneys have repeatedly raised concerns that the trial could go on for years based on the number of witnesses the state plans to call up.
