Duane “Keefe D” Davis is expected to ask for bail under $100,000 and to be placed under house arrest.

His attorneys are claiming his ailing health makes staying behind bars untenable for his health. They also say that he will not flee prior to the trial, which will begin in June.

The former gang member and confessed criminal, who is now 60, was arrested and charged with allegedly providing the weapon in the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur.

The prosecutors are concerned that his release could pose a threat to the witnesses involved in the case although the only direct witness to the event that is still alive, Suge Knight, is behind bars.

Last month, Keefe D received a confirmed trial start date of June 3, 2024. Though Nevada is a capital punishment state, prosecutors will not be seeking the death penalty if convicted.

Keefe D has been charged with the Category A felony of “murder with the use of a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang.”

During the grand jury return hearing, Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo said Keefe D’s public statements implicated him. They are claiming he ordered the shooting of the late rapper.
