Kanye West has been ordered by a Los Angeles judge to appear for a deposition within 30 days regarding a lawsuit filed by a former Donda Academy employee.

The case, initiated in April 2024 by Trevor Phillips, involves allegations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation during his tenure at both Donda Academy and West’s Yeezy brand.

Phillips claims West openly expressed antisemitic views to staff, mistreated Black employees, and made alarming suggestions, such as shaving students’ heads and constructing a jail at the school.

Phillips has detailed 11 legal claims in his lawsuit, including discrimination, hostile work environment, wrongful termination, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He seeks financial damages and requests an injunction to prevent West and his entities from operating educational institutions for minors in California.

Legal documents reveal Phillips’ attorneys have repeatedly attempted to secure West’s testimony without success. The judge’s directive underscores the necessity for West to address these accusations directly after months of delays.

The lawsuit further alleges troubling incidents, such as West praising Adolf Hitler, denying the Holocaust, misusing school funds, and subjecting employees to hazardous conditions. These claims portray a deeply concerning atmosphere at Donda Academy prior to its closure in 2023.

Following the filing of the lawsuit, Phillips’ lawyer Carney R. Shegerian stated their goal is to vindicate their client’s rights and denounce the alleged behavior. Shegerian emphasized that actions promoting discrimination, antisemitism, and admiration for individuals like Hitler are unacceptable.
