Donald Trump has stated that he has no intention of granting a pardon to Sean “Diddy” Combs following the rapper’s reported handwritten request.
In an interview with The New York Times this week, the former president confirmed he has no plans to pardon Diddy, who is serving a 50-month prison sentence after being convicted on federal prostitution charges.
Trump mentioned that Diddy wrote him a personal letter asking for clemency, but the request isn’t being considered. Specific details about the letter remain undisclosed, as White House representatives referred inquiries back to Trump’s remarks when asked for a copy.
“[Diddy] asked me for a pardon,” he said. “Through a letter.”
Diddy, who received his sentence in October, is currently appealing both his conviction and punishment. The music mogul has been incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey since September 2024.
In October, Trump disclosed that Diddy had approached him for a pardon during a conversation in the Oval Office. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump mentioned that many individuals had requested pardons from him.
Referring to Diddy by his well-known nickname, Trump said: “I call him Puff Daddy, [he] has asked me for a pardon.”
