Latto has announced her plans to step away from music.
On May 8, the Atlanta rapper shared that her forthcoming album, Big Mama, will mark the end of her journey in the industry, calling it her “retirement album” and final project.
“5/29 My retirement album Thank you for everything,” Latto wrote to her fans on X.
Fans were taken aback by the announcement, as Latto, at just 28 years old, will have only four albums to her name when Big Mama drops.
Currently expecting her first child, Latto might be considering shifting her focus away from rap to prioritize motherhood. “Big Mama”, set for release on May 29, will feature a total of 17 tracks, including previously unveiled singles like “Somebody,” “Business & Personal,” and “GOMF,” which features GloRilla.
Her most recent album, “Sugar Honey Iced Tea”, came out in 2024 and debuted at #15 on the Billboard 200. That project boasted collaborations with Megan Thee Stallion, Hunxho, Coco Jones, Ciara, Mariah the Scientist, and Teezo Touchdown.
While many rappers in the past have hinted at retirement only to return to the studio later, it remains to be seen if Latto intends to follow a similar path.
“Big Mama” will officially arrive on May 29 via Streamcut and RCA Records.
