Kid Cudi has shared that he and Ye are in the process of mending their broken friendship, which opens up the possibility of future collaborations between the two.

On July 19, a fan reached out to Cudi on platform X, inquiring about the chance of him teaming up with Ye again after their disagreement in 2022.

“Im sure we will yea. Right now were rebuilding our friendship,” Cudi confirmed. “I hit him a week ago to check in on him, today he hit me to check on me. No work talk. Just seeing how I was doing. It was nice.”

Back in 2008, Cudi joined Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music Records. Although he left the label in 2013, his friendship and collaboration with Ye continued. A minor disagreement in 2016 didn’t disrupt their relationship until a public disagreement arose in 2022, centered around Cudi’s friendship with Pete Davidson, who was Kim Kardashian’s boyfriend at that time.

Following several online exchanges, the two seemed to make amends briefly in late 2023. Cudi was seen at a listening party for Vultures, and several months later, a verse of his unexpectedly appeared on Vultures 2.

Following several more public shows of affection towards each other, Cudi announced on CBS Mornings in 2025 that he had ended his relationship with Ye for numerous reasons, with Ye’s remarks about Virgil Abloh after his passing being a significant factor.

“There’s no coming back from that, man,” he said. “I’m done with you. And it breaks my heart because I loved Kanye. I really loved him. He was part of my life changing and at some point, he was a really good friend, but the man that he has become…I just don’t know that guy anymore.”

Earlier this year in April, Cudi appeared to be on improved terms with his former friend, taking a moment during his tour to acknowledge him before performing their collaboration, “Reborn.”

It seems that things have continued to develop positively since then.
