Chris Brown has admitted to affray in connection with a producer who was struck with a bottle in London, potentially facing up to three years in prison.

On July 24, both Brown and his co-defendant, HoodyBaby, pleaded guilty to affray during a session at Southwark Crown Court in London. The incident occurred three years ago at Tape nightclub in Mayfair. Initially charged with suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, they opted to plead guilty to affray, indicating violent or threatening behavior that instills fear for safety in others.

The arrest of Brown and HoodyBaby took place last May during Brown’s arrival in the U.K. for his “Breezy Bowl XX Tour”. Authorities report that Chris struck producer Abe Diaw over the head with a bottle, while HoodyBaby delivered a punch to Diaw’s head.

A lawsuit filed by Diaw regarding the incident was reportedly withdrawn last summer.

The sentencing for Brown is scheduled for October 26, potentially affecting his participation in the final leg of the R&B Tour with Usher if incarceration follows. The crime carries a maximum sentence of three years.

“There is no place for serious violence like this in London and I’m pleased these men accepted what they did wasn’t just completely unacceptable – but criminal,” said Metropolitan Police Detective Constable Zara Ripamonti in a statement.
