Lil Uzi Vert stunned fans with an unexpected birthday gift on July 31, releasing a surprise EP to mark their 31st year.

The drop came just hours after the Philadelphia rapper abruptly canceled their Lollapalooza set, turning a missed festival performance into a moment of celebration.

The eight-track EP, titled “Maverick (Almost Forever)”, is Uzi’s first new music in two years. Its cover art features a touching image of a young Uzi sitting with their grandmother, adding an intimate layer to the project.

This release also holds sentimental significance in Uzi’s discography. It landed on the same date as the 2016 debut of “The Perfect LUV Tape”, which entered the Billboard 200 at #55 and later achieved gold certification from the RIAA.

A decade later, Uzi commemorated that milestone with fresh material, having hinted at new work earlier in July by sharing snippets from a studio session via Instagram Stories.

Fans had anticipated Uzi’s performance at Lollapalooza’s Grant Park in Chicago, where they were scheduled to perform just before Charli XCX headlined the evening. Despite the last-minute cancellation, Uzi’s surprise release more than made up for the disappointment, delivering a welcomed addition to their storied career.
