Rick Ross has responded to criticism regarding his latest album’s initial sales by highlighting that The Game’s new release, despite featuring major artists like Ye and Drake, sold even fewer copies.
Rick Ross expressed his views on Instagram upon learning of the first-week sales figures for The Game’s “The Documentary III”. This album ranked at #68 on the Billboard 200, selling 14,806 units. In contrast, Ross’s “Set In Stone” debuted at #39, moving 19,214 units in its first week back in July.
Rick Ross Talks First Week Sales
“That was a project that was released last week. ‘The Documentary III,'” Ross began. “Two Kanye features, Drake, Party downstairs, Snoop Dogg, E-40, Marsha Ambrosius, Drakeo The Ruler–may he rest in peace. I was a huge fan. But more importantly, the point I want you to know is, Set In Stone, which is out right now, did more numbers than Documentary III with what they call a stimulus package.”
He also made a point to send some encouraging words to The Game.
“Listen, keep hustling,” he added. “That’s what it’s all about. The Game as an artist, continue to make music my ni**a. The west coast needs you, you feel me? And for all the other artists, don’t let that sh*t dictate how you move, what you create. And you keep going.”
With 50 Cent recently criticizing Rick Ross for the disappointing sales of “Set In Stone,” the Miami rapper seized the opportunity to make his own statement, even if it meant The Game got caught in the crossfire.
