The wait for GTA 6 is getting more intense, but Rockstar Games has just delivered news that could leave some players scrambling for storage space.

The developer has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated blockbuster will require up to 212GB of storage, while also revealing its preload schedule, physical release details, and plans for an official Leonida map and poster.

With launch approaching on November 19, the latest announcement gives fans a clearer picture of what to expect — and raises fresh questions about how much space modern blockbuster games should demand.

GTA 6 Preload Starts November 10 With a Massive Download

Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 preload begins November 10, giving players time to download the game before launch.

PlayStation 5 players can start downloading at midnight local time on November 10. Xbox Series X|S users will also gain access on November 10, with preload beginning globally at 12 a.m. GMT.

However, the biggest talking point is the download requirement. Rockstar says the preload file could demand up to 212GB, depending on the device.

That’s an enormous commitment, even by modern gaming standards. Players with limited SSD capacity may have to delete several games just to make room for Rockstar’s latest adventure.

Rockstar’s Physical Edition Comes With a Catch

Rockstar has also confirmed that physical versions should reach retailers starting November 12. But collectors expecting a traditional game disc may be disappointed: the boxed editions contain a digital download code instead.

There’s another surprise. On November 19, Rockstar will release a free printable GTA 6 cover-art poster and map of Leonida through its official website.

Fans wanting a physical version will be able to purchase a double-sided poster shortly after launch for $0.99, or receive it free with another Rockstar Store purchase.

It’s a curious decision for a franchise famous for its iconic physical maps. Whether fans embrace the digital-first approach or criticize the missing disc, one thing is certain: GTA 6 is already challenging expectations before players even enter Vice City.
