In December of last year, Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to charges for his 2019 federal firearm case. This was an incident where a loaded gold-plated Remington 1911, .45-caliber handgun with a pearl grip loaded with six rounds of ammunition was found inside his private jet at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport.
According to a warrant, Lil Wayne said he had received the gun as a Father’s Day gift. As a convicted felon from over a decade ago, he wasn’t supposed to be in possession of a weapon. But he admitted to owning the gold-plated pistol. Authorities also reported finding cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, marijuana, pain killers and prescription-strength cough syrup, and a lot of cash.
Weezy’s sentencing hearing was originally scheduled for January 28th, 2021, but according to reports, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams has moved his sentencing hearing date back to March 3.
The 38-year-old rapper’s attorney, Howard Srebnick, released a statement addressing the charge.
There is no allegation that he ever fired it, brandished it, used it or threatened to use it. There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person. The charge is that because he was convicted of a felony in the past, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The rapper, currently out on bail, faces up to 10 years in federal prison from the charge, but given that Weezy’s lawyers and federal prosecutors worked out a guilty plea, it’s likely he will receive much less – if any – jail time.
