Cam’ron has cleared up longstanding rumors that he and Mariah Carey are dating.
The songstress and the Dipset rapper have been romantically linked in the past. Carey frequently hung out and partied with Rap stars during the ’90s and 2000s and never shied away from aligning herself with the genre.
On the latest episode of Cam’s show “Talk With Flee,” which premiered this week, the Harlem legend set the record straight on his relationship with the iconic singer.
“She’s a friend. She’s a good friend. It’s nothing less or nothing more than that. She’s a super-duper good friend,” he said. “We were never together. We were never a couple, nothing like that.”
He further explained, “She liked a song of mine and then we did ‘Boy’ and we hung out. She invited me [to Aspen]. Honestly, Mariah’s the first person who made me realize that it was festive in Aspen about 20-something years ago.”
“I drunk some wine, she had a pool house, we chilled out there,” he added. “She took me to Capri, to Italy. She took me to a lot of different places. Thank you for helping me experience some things at a young age that I do for fun now.”
Cam’ron also gave Carey props as an artist, saying: “We gotta realize, when it comes to Mariah Carey, because she’s such a pop figure and so popular around the world and a mega superstar, people don’t give Mariah Carey a lot of credit for putting Hip-Hop in her music and videos.”
“Mariah Carey worked with Da Brat, Mariah Carey worked with The LOX, Mariah Carey with Ma$e, Mariah Carey worked with me. Mariah Carey worked with Ol’ Dirty Bastard!”
