Kanye West has publicly criticized Kendrick Lamar’s features on Playboi Carti’s anticipated new album, “I Am Music,” despite producing one of the tracks himself.
Ye shared his thoughts on Lamar’s heavy involvement on Carti’s 30-track effort.
“I DON’T LIKE KENDRICK LAMARS MUSIC,” he posted on X. “HE RAPS VERY GOOD BUT I DIDNT NEED TO HEAR HIM ON CARTI ALBUM.”
Lamar appears on three tracks “Good Credit,” “Mojo Jojo,” and “Backdoor” which was produced by West. His contributions add to a star-studded guest lineup featuring Future, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, and Lil Uzi Vert.
The diss comes only a month after Kanye said Lamar was the only one who could beat him in a rap battle.
“If you rap against Kendrick, you will lose,” he said. “This man does this. You know, in Street Fighter, you get Chun-Li, you get a certain kick, and no matter what, you can’t beat that thing?”
He added, “If you rap against Kendrick Lamar, like Joe Budden said, ‘Never rap against Kendrick Lamar.’ If you rap against Kendrick Lamar, it’s a difficult task, but perhaps it’s something … I’m a psycho genius, so you know, it could be.”
“I Am Music” marks Carti’s return after five years, following 2020’s “Whole Lotta Red,” which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.
