DaBaby is mourning the death of his brother.
The rapper’s older brother Glen Johnson, 34, died on Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 3) of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in their hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, according to an article by TMZ.
The Charlotte rapper’s brother posted an emotional message on his Instagram account venting about being done wrong by people. He was apparently holding a gun in the video. He shot himself in the head and died.
The “Rockstar” rapper, whose birth name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, didn’t directly respond to the report but he seemingly confirmed the tragic news by adding, “Long Live My Brother,” to his Instagram bio.
DaBaby also shared a snippet from his song “Intro” on his Instagram story, which includes the lyrics: “My brother be thinkin’ that we don’t/ love him and let him struggle like/ we ain’t family/ Like I won’t give up all I got to see you happy, (expletive).”
“I would’ve gave up all I had to see you happy,” he wrote in the caption.
Johnson is survived by three daughters and a son.
