A federal judge ruled on Wednesday (February 21) that Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, should be released from custody after he landed in jail two months ago on a Broward County drug possession charge dismissed two weeks ago.

The Florida rapper got out of the Miami Federal Detention Center, meaning he will be free to witness the birth of his son due later this week.

“It was important for him to be out for the birth of his son,” his lawyer Bradford Cohen said. “This is his fourth child. He has been at every birth, so to miss the birth would have been very detrimental to him.”

WPLG Local 10 News journalists report that the controversial rapper threw rocks at them as he exited jail, as seen in the video below. The network also alleges Kodak threatened to attack veteran reporter Rosh Lowe at the scene.

“I’ve been doing this a long time, and let me tell you, this is one of the strangest things I have ever seen,” Lowe said on air, added that Black “threatened to punch me repeatedly.”

Black was arrested on December 7 when Florida police allegedly found him asleep at the wheel of his black Bentley in a community neighboring Fort Lauderdale. An officer said powder recovered from Kapri tested positive for cocaine at the scene, but follow-up lab testing revealed it was oxycodone.
