Nipsey Hussle will soon be honored with a Los Angeles Metro station named after him.
In celebration of what would have been his 40th birthday, the Hyde Park station will bear the late rapper’s name until the end of August. This gesture recognizes Nipsey’s contributions to revitalizing the area surrounding the station.
In addition to the station renaming, LA Metro is releasing two limited-edition TAP cards featuring Nipsey Hussle. A total of 12,000 cards will be available citywide, commemorating the life and legacy of the influential artist.
Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Blacc Sam, recently shared plans for a posthumous album from the late rapper during an appearance on Power 106’s “Brown Bag Morning Show” in February.
The project is a collaboration with Bino Rideaux and was largely completed before Nipsey’s untimely death in 2019. Sam emphasized that the album stays true to Nipsey’s vision, noting that any work not directly overseen by him would not be released.
“If Hussle didn’t actually do the verse or work with the person or put together the blueprint for the project, we not doing it,” Sam said. “He did something with Bino and there’s a new project that we’re about to release. This was a project that he had with Bino that was pretty much like 80% finished.”
He continued, “So the team kind of came in, got some unreleased verses and music that he had done with Bino and just tightened it up. It sounds amazing. It should be coming out around this summer. The team is real excited. We just finished going over all the stuff for the last three weeks with everybody.”
