Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for his involvement in a $1 million USD fraud scheme. The judgment was delivered Friday (August 15) in a Florida courtroom following his conviction on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud.
Kingston’s mother, Janice Turner, played a role in the same criminal operation and was sentenced to five years in prison last month. Federal prosecutors revealed that Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Paul Anderson, exploited his celebrity status on social media to scam victims.
Kingston promised to promote their goods — ranging from a bulletproof Escalade and luxury watches to oversized TVs — before sending fraudulent wire receipts for the products. When the payments failed to clear, he refused to honor financial obligations.
The 35-year-old artist, best known for his 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls,” expressed regret during sentencing, apologizing to the judge and claiming he had learned from his mistakes. The court ruled for him to be taken into custody immediately.
Kingston and his mother were initially arrested in May 2024 after a SWAT team stormed his rented mansion in suburban Fort Lauderdale.
