Devin Spady – the son of popular Philly rapper Gille Da Kid and inspiring rapper himself who went by YNG Cheese – was the victim of a triple shooting in Philadelphia on Thursday (July 20).

The 25-year-old rapper was shot to death and two other men were hurt when investigators say gunshots erupted on the 5800 block of Mascher Street on Thursday at 8:24 pm. Devin Spady was pronounced dead at 8:39 pm. When police got there, they found two more shooting victims about a block away. The two others hurt in the shooting, a 28-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, are both stable at Einstein.

People hugged and cried as they attended a funeral service Monday (July 24). The ceremony was held at The Met Philadelphia – a popular concert venue along North Broad Street.

Wallo, Spady’s uncle and Gillie Da King’s podcast partner, took to Instagram to speak on behalf of the family.

“It’s a tragic situation but tomorrow is going to be better than yesterday and we never stop believing that, never. We’re never going to abandon the mission God sent us to do.”

Spady’s father, Gillie Da Kidd, was born Nasir Ford. He is a founding member of the Hip-Hop group Major Figgas.

Police have not reported any arrests in the deadly triple shooting.
