Takeoff‘s parents are reportedly embroiled in a legal dispute over how to divide the settlement money from the wrongful death lawsuit following the rapper’s tragic 2022 murder.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ on June 24, his mother, Titania Davenport, contends that his father, Kenneth Ball, should not receive any portion of the settlement. She asserts this position based on his alleged absence for much of Takeoff’s life.
Titania initiated the lawsuit in Texas and successfully secured the settlement but now faces challenges from Kenneth in the ongoing probate case. In her court filings, she described her relationship with Takeoff as “close, loving, and nurturing,” emphasizing that she raised him as a single mother and bore nearly all financial responsibilities until he reached adulthood.
She further explained that she continued supporting him during the early stages of his music career. Once Takeoff achieved success, he reciprocated by financially assisting her with housing, cars, clothing, food, and utilities.
Titania claims that Kenneth contributed only minimal financial support and provided little to no emotional support during Takeoff’s life. She also noted that he did not benefit financially from their son’s music career.
In contrast, Kenneth argues that despite his absence, he is still entitled to a portion of the settlement. He has requested that the state of Texas take jurisdiction over the matter, while Titania advocates for it to be resolved in Georgia, where the probate case was filed.
As of now, the judge has yet to make a ruling on how the funds will be allocated.
