Tory Lanez has filed yet another emergency motion as his fight for freedom takes a troubling twist.
His legal team has raised serious concerns about the conditions within California’s prison system, warning that he could face immediate physical danger.
Documents reveal that Lanez’s attorneys accuse staff at the California Men’s Colony of engaging in a pattern of intimidation and retaliation since he decided to sue the state over a near-fatal prison stabbing he endured last year.
The motion states that correctional officers have allegedly subjected Lanez to repeated disciplinary actions that his legal team contends were not previously considered violations before the lawsuit was lodged.
They also argue this increased scrutiny is part of an effort to move Lanez to a prison yard notorious for heightened violence and instability.
“Such actions have a chilling effect on all people who are incarcerated as it demonstrates to Plaintiff and other individuals what will occur if they exercise their First Amendment right to redress the government for grievances,” Crystal Morgan, Tory Lanez’s lawyer, said.
The filing highlights ongoing concerns related to Lanez’s prior stabbing incident. It claims that officers made remarks about the event, which attorneys perceived as intimidating.
Coupled with the disciplinary measures, Tory’s legal team characterized the circumstances as increasingly tense and potentially hazardous.
