The controversy around “$TARFACE” has shifted from questioning Tyga‘s use of artificial intelligence to debating the extent AI influences an album’s perception.

Following Pitchfork’s rare 0.0 rating and their critique on the project’s technological aspects, Tyga spoke with TMZ to counter the notion that he relinquished full creative control to a machine.

“I don’t really know what Pitchfork is. All I know is the devil uses a pitchfork. That’s all I know,” he joked when asked about the review. His response to the larger controversy was less dismissive.

Tyga Critiques Perceived Bias in AI Outrage Culture

Tyga suggested that listeners have misunderstood his comment about using AI in production, expanding its meaning beyond what he intended.

“What the context is, unfortunately for Gen Z, they can’t read. So, nobody reads,” he said. “What I said was, I used A.I.-assisted things in the production. I said all the vocals are me, I wrote all the songs.”

The veteran artist admitted to incorporating AI-generated components when he desired specific sounds, such as guitar solos and certain aspects of production.
