Fatman Scoop, whole real name was Isaac Freeman III, has died at the age of 53.

The legendary DJ collapsed while playing a show at Hamden Town Center Park in Connecticut on August 30. He received CPR and was taken to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead hours later. In the early morning hours on Saturday (August 31), Scoop had passed away. A cause of death was not provided.

His tour manager Birch “Pure Cold” Michael was the first to reveal the breaking news to the public.

“I am honestly lost for words… You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today. Thank you so much, I love you x.”

After his death, Scoop’s Instagram account has been updated with an official statement from his family, recognizing him as the “undisputed voice of the club.”

“It is with profound sadness and very heavy hearts that we share news of the passing of the legendary and iconic FatMan Scoop,” it began. “Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life. FatManScoop was not just a world class performer, he was a father, brother, uncle and a friend.”
