Young Thug has sparked fresh controversy by calling out Gunna in a snippet from an unreleased track.
The diss surfaced during what seemed to be a listening session for Lil Baby’s upcoming album, “The Leak$”, where Thugger made his sentiments clear through his guest verse. This marks his most explicit jab at Gunna since his release from jail last year.
In the snippet, Thug raps: “Only reason I fucked with you, Gunna, it was ’cause of Troup,” referencing Keith B. Troup, a mutual friend and mentor to both rappers who was tragically murdered in 2015. The pointed lyric has yet to elicit a response from Gunna, stirring speculation about the fractured relationship between the once-close collaborators.
Amid growing tension, Young Thug has previously touched on his dynamic with Gunna during an interview with GQ. When pressed about rumors of a fallout within the YSL camp, Thug offered an evasive reply: “I know everybody wonders [what our relationship is like now],” he noted, before saying: “I don’t know.”
Adding fuel to the fire, Thug recently dropped “Money On Money,” the lead single from his forthcoming album “Uy Scuti”, featuring Future. While the track showcases Thugger’s signature Atlanta style, it’s unmistakably punctuated with bars that seem directed at Gunna and his controversial Alford plea during YSL’s high-profile RICO trial.
In its sharp lyrics, Thug raps: “These fuck n-ggas tellin’ for nothin’, and I gotta be the one callin’ ’em friends,” followed by: “Brother, you a rat (My brother).” The accusations escalate further as he spits: “Twin, you a rat, you smoked, uh.”
Despite Gunna’s repeated denials of snitching or betraying Thug, the mounting lyrics and public hints from Thugger suggest lingering resentment. For now, fans wait to see if Gunna will ultimately break his silence on what appears to be an increasingly fractured YSL loyalty.
