Mass Appeal has unveiled the release timelines for highly-anticipated music projects involving Nas x DJ Premier and De La Soul.
According to reports, the joint album from Nas and DJ Premier is scheduled for a December 2025 release. This information surfaced after Statik Selektah shared a flyer on his Instagram Stories during New York Comic-Con, outlining the release dates from Mass Appeal’s “Legend Has It” series.
Alongside this announcement, it was revealed that De La Soul’s upcoming album is set for a November release, while Big L’s project will drop in October.
In addition to the news, Posdnuos and Maseo of De La Soul provided more details on their forthcoming album, which will be titled “Cabin In The Sky”, inspired by the classic 1943 musical featuring Ethel Waters, Eddie “Rochester” Anderson, Lena Horne, Rex Ingram, and Louis Armstrong.
Explaining the origins of the title, Pos shared that the idea struck him after watching the film. “We’re working and working [on the album], and I come across this movie. And I’m like, ‘Yo, this title is crazy!’ Cabin in the Sky. Immediately, I felt Dave,” Pos said.
Pos further reflected on the late Dave Jolicoeur’s influence on the project, noting his spiritual connection during the creative process.
“Of course, we have songs with Dave on it but — yo, for me, and I’m sure there are people here who are spiritual and understand what I’m saying, it feels like, ‘Dave’s here for me. He’s here.’ There are times where I’m writing rhymes and I’m getting goosebumps ’cause I feel like Dave would be saying, ‘Yo, that’s dope!’”
Fans can look forward to “Cabin In The Sky” in November, followed by Nas and DJ Premier’s highly awaited collaboration debuting one month later in December 2025.
