Nicki Minaj has left both fans and the music industry stunned by announcing the cancellation of her highly awaited sixth studio album.
The rapper took to X to break the news, bluntly stating: “Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music.”
She concluded the post with a direct message to Jay-Z, tagging his account, and adding: “Hope you’re happy now @sc. Bye, Barbz. Love you for life.”
This decision comes mere weeks after Minaj had confirmed a March 2026 release date for the follow-up to her hit album “Pink Friday 2”. The abrupt cancellation appears to be the climax of ongoing disputes between Minaj and figures linked to Roc Nation, including its CEO, Desiree Perez.
The friction reportedly stems from accusations regarding unpaid equity related to TIDAL’s sale, as well as other alleged disagreements.
Leading up to her announcement, Minaj shared a series of heated posts alleging that influential industry figures have tried to sabotage her career and limit her success. She also took jabs at Jay-Z over his failed attempt to secure a New York casino license.
Despite Minaj’s declaration that she’s stepping away from music, her loyal fanbase — the Barbz — remains skeptical. Many believe this could be a strategic and theatrical move rather than a permanent farewell.
Whether this marks a true turning point or simply another chapter in the rapper’s storied career remains uncertain.
