U.S. Marshals have detained a suspect linked to the shooting of rapper Sauce Walka and the murder of fellow artist Sayso P.
According to a report from Memphis-based outlet Action News 5, authorities arrested 23-year-old Kevin “KJ” Brown in Clarksville, Tennessee, on Wednesday (October 22).
Brown faces charges of first-degree murder, two counts of employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, and theft of property. He was taken into custody at a motel located on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail, awaiting extradition.
An additional suspect, Jayden Dandridge, was found dead in Houston just days after the shooting incident.
The attack occurred back in March near Memphis’ FedExForum when Sauce Walka (real name Albert Walker Mondane) and Sayso P (real name Latorian Hunt) were shot outside a hotel. A vehicle with multiple individuals inside drove up, and gunfire erupted.
Sayso P was fatally struck, while Sauce Walka sustained a leg injury and later recovered after receiving treatment at a local hospital. In the wake of the tragedy, Sauce Walka shared an emotional tribute to Sayso P on Instagram.
He expressed his grief, stating his immense loss and blaming the circumstances that led to the incident. Walka lamented that Sayso P didn’t heed advice to remain indoors that evening, recalling how their plans unfolded differently than intended.
“Words or tears can’t explain the loss I feel!” he wrote. “Splatt, I wish your fat ahh listened to me and stayed in the room. I told you we could smoke that blunt after security and the rest of our familia pull up.. Sosaman told you, ‘F dat weed, wait til we leave an hit Superior first.’ You always so hardheaded blood, but you know I’ma ride wit you regardless. We come together, we leave together. Wish you just went [to] DR with Shimmy and shot off, and skipped this trip to Memphis, but you was to excited I finally agreed to come to da ‘M.’”
In a subsequent interview, Sauce Walka clarified that he has no plans to seek vengeance for Sayso P’s death, emphasizing that such actions would go against what he views as “righteous” behavior.
