The ongoing debate about whether former President Trump will pardon Diddy has stirred up significant drama.

The discussion has persisted since before the Bad Boy Records founder’s conviction, and now that he has been sentenced to 50 months in prison, the speculation has grown louder.

On October 20, TMZ reported that Trump was reportedly wavering on whether to grant Diddy a commutation, citing information from what they claimed was a high-ranking White House source.

However, NBC News disputed these claims on October 21, publishing a statement from a White House official refuting TMZ’s report.

According to the official, the TMZ story was entirely untrue and would have been corrected had the outlet reached out prior to publication. The statement emphasized that all decisions regarding pardons and commutations rest solely with the President, not anonymous sources.

Despite the backlash, TMZ maintained their position, standing by their initial report. Meanwhile, Deadline also weighed in, suggesting through unnamed sources that Trump might be reconsidering a pardon for Diddy amid concerns about negative reactions from MAGA supporters.

This situation harkens back to May when Trump hinted at leaving the door open for the possibility of pardoning Diddy. During an Oval Office meeting, he remarked that he would review the details if it appeared someone was being unfairly treated. He added that personal opinions of him wouldn’t factor into any decision.

Diddy’s legal troubles escalated earlier this year when he was convicted in July on two counts related to engaging in prostitution. Earlier this month, on October 3, he received a sentence of 50 months in federal prison, fueling the intense speculation surrounding his potential pardon.
