Lil Nas X has been directed to complete a mental health program as part of an agreement to have his felony assault charges dismissed.
The artist appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom that afternoon regarding his felony police battery case. Judge Alan Schneider ruled that the rapper, whose real name is Montero Hill, must participate in a mental health diversion program.
If Lil Nas X adheres to the prescribed treatment plan and maintains lawful behavior over the next two years, the charges against him will be dropped.
“When treated, he is much better off, and society is much better off,” said Judge Schneider, adding that Nas X “appears to be doing very well.”
The 26-year-old rapper is also prohibited from possessing weapons or making any violent threats throughout the duration of the two-year program.
As reported by RS, Lil Nas X voluntarily entered The Meadows treatment facility in Arizona after his arrest in August 2025. His defense attorney, Christy O’Connor, informed the court that his two-month stay at the facility was “highly successful.”
Outside the courthouse, Lil Nas X appeared upbeat, flashing a wide smile and giving two thumbs up while speaking briefly to the press.
“I’m thankful. Just very thankful,” he said. “It could have been much worse.”
“[I’m] just going through the flow of life,” he continued. When asked about his treatment, Nas X added, “I’m here, baby.”
Lil Nas X’s legal troubles trace back to his arrest on August 22, 2025, after being spotted wandering the streets of Los Angeles dressed only in underwear and cowboy boots — a moment that was caught on camera.
Reports indicate that when police approached the rapper, he was allegedly unclothed and charged toward the officers. Following the incident, he was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and subsequently arrested on three felony counts of battery resulting in injury to a police officer, as well as one felony count of resisting an executive officer.
