Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt, was neither injured nor involved in the incident where Offset sustained a gunshot wound, his lawyer clarified.
“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting which occurred at the Valet Area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood which [resulted] in non-life-threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos,” Tjay’s attorney, Dawn M. Florio, shared in an Instagram statement late Monday (April 6), responding to social media speculation.
Florio clarified that Lil Tjay has neither been shot nor charged in connection with any shooting, dismissing any reports suggesting otherwise as false. He urged the public to rely on credible news outlets and verify the accuracy of information before circulating or believing unfounded rumors.
Meanwhile, former Migos member Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, sustained injuries during a shooting incident near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, on Monday.
“We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care. He is stable and being closely monitored,” a rep for the musician confirmed in a statement to multiple outlets.
Police in Seminole, Florida, have confirmed an incident near the hotel and casino in a statement to TMZ, the outlet that initially reported on Offset’s shooting.
“We are aware of an incident that occurred at a valet area after 7 p.m. Monday outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood that resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to an individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood,” authorities told the outlet.
“Seminole Police were on site immediately and the situation was contained quickly. Two individuals have been detained by police,” the police department added.
“The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure and there is no threat to the public. Operations continue as normal.”
