The FBI has reported that Gucci Mane provided a statement to police concerning an alleged robbery and kidnapping involving Pooh Shiesty and eight other individuals who have been formally charged.
On April 8, Pooh Shiesty appeared in a Dallas court for a detention hearing aimed at determining whether he would be released on bond.
During the hearing, FBI Special Agent Pamela Hanson shared findings from the investigation, explaining that much of the case hinges on statements made by Gucci Mane and other alleged victims to police on the night of the incident.
These statements reportedly came after a member of Gucci’s security team alerted authorities, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Although Gucci Mane and the other alleged victims have not yet been interviewed by the FBI, Hanson noted that those interviews are planned. She also acknowledged that investigators currently lack evidence of the contract release which Pooh Shiesty is accused of forcing Gucci Mane to sign under duress.
Pooh Shiesty’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, criticized the government’s approach during the proceedings, arguing that it was highly unusual for authorities to wait three months after the alleged crime before taking action to make an arrest.
“I think the testimony is all over the place,” Cohen said in court.
Journalist Bryson Paul observed that Pooh leaned his head against the courtroom wall, his legs trembling during cross-examination.
The rapper also appeared visibly dismayed, shaking his head in disbelief when Hanson claimed that Gucci Mane instructed his security to lower their weapon, stating “we’re outnumbered,” after reportedly being ambushed by members of Pooh’s group.
In the end, Judge Renee Harries Toliver ruled in favor of the prosecution’s motion to deny bond for the rapper.
“I can’t find any condition to offer that haven’t already been granted to you,” Judge Toliver told Pooh, in reference to him being on house arrest at the time of the alleged crime.
Pooh Shiesty, his father, Big30, and six other individuals have been accused of involvement in a suspected robbery. If found guilty, they may be sentenced to life imprisonment.
