The acclaimed artist, celebrated for his dynamic contributions to contemporary hip-hop, passed away at the age of 29.

Authorities conducted a welfare check at his residence, where he was found unresponsive. No indications of foul play were reported.

Tay Keith, whose real name was Brytavious Lakeith Chambers, rose to fame for his distinctive trap-centered production style that left an indelible mark on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

The Memphis-native achieved a remarkable eleven top 10 hits and four #1, including blockbuster tracks like Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” and Drake’s “First Person Shooter.”

His achievements included holding the record for the most #1 songs on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this decade, with six chart-toppers to his name.

Behind his quiet, humble demeanor was a tireless focus on crafting music that resonated deeply with audiences. In the early 2020s, Keith played a pivotal role in catapulting rapper Sexyy Red into the spotlight with her breakout hit “Pound Town.” Their electrifying collaboration helped elevate her from underground recognition to shared success on mainstream hip-hop stages.

Keith’s signature production style, defined by thunderous drum patterns and resonant basslines, became highly sought after among top artists. Tracks such as Eminem’s “Not Alike” and Lil Baby and Gunna’s “Never Recover” exemplified his ability to transform songs into impactful, high-energy experiences.

His work played a significant role in putting Memphis back at the forefront of modern hip-hop, leaving behind an influential legacy in the music industry.
