Bobby Shmurda is overjoyed as he celebrates his father’s long-awaited release from prison, marking the end of more than three decades behind bars.
On June 19, a heartfelt moment from Bobby Shmurda’s Instagram Story began making rounds online. The Brooklyn rapper shared his happiness through a clip showing him with his father, who had been incarcerated for over 30 years, now finally reunited with loved ones.
In the video, the two share a touching moment in the backseat of a car while Shmurda cheerfully captioned, “Nah, why my pops out.”
In another short video, Bobby stands shirtless beside his father, who is engrossed in watching something on a tablet. Playfully, Bobby teases his dad about his muscular build, clearly shaped by years of exercise during his time in prison. However, his father doesn’t seem fazed by Bobby’s playful antics.
Shmurda’s father was sentenced to an enormous 120 years in prison on robbery and assault charges when Bobby was just two months old. In a June 2025 interview with DJ Vlad, the rapper revealed that his father had once been a well-known drug kingpin operating out of Miami during the 1990s.
“My pops [was] one of those boys. So when they grabbed him, they grabbed him,” he said.
Shmurda shared that his father’s absence during his upbringing forced him to mature quickly at a young age, ultimately steering him toward the drug trade as a teenager.
With Bobby Shmurda’s father now released from prison, they have the opportunity to rebuild their bond and lay the foundation for a fresh chapter together.
