At the heart of the Mo3 murder trial is surveillance footage allegedly capturing Kewon White as the gunman who pursued and killed the rapper on a Dallas highway almost six years ago.
Prosecutors have zeroed in on a seemingly trivial detail — a flash of blue underwear visible above White’s pants — to strengthen their case. This footage showcases a man at a residence on November 10 and 11, 2020, featuring the same blue underwear, forming a crucial part of the state’s attempt to build a timeline implicating White.
On November 10, surveillance captured the man outside the home, apparently with a firearm. Subsequent footage from November 11 captured him at the site again, followed by images showing individuals around a backyard fire.
Prosecutors argue that after Mo3’s murder, clothing linked to the crime was destroyed in this fire. However, testimony regarding the surveillance has not definitively connected every item in the footage to the killing.
Prosecutors Build A Complex Case
The prosecution has gained another piece of circumstantial evidence through videos as they work to persuade the jury that White was the masked gunman pursuing Mo3, also known as Melvin Noble, along Interstate 35E on November 11, 2020.
Witnesses have recounted seeing a man exit a dark vehicle with a rifle and chase Noble through traffic. Video evidence from earlier in the trial shows Mo3 leaving his car and fleeing as the armed individual followed. The rapper was tragically shot and killed, while another bystander was hit but survived.
White’s defense team has contested the prosecutor’s assertions regarding his identification. Defense attorney Myra McIntosh argued to jurors in opening statements that the prosecution was relying heavily on assumptions to fill gaps in their evidence. Witnesses early in the trial did not directly identify White as the shooter, according to reports.
White is the first individual to be tried in connection with the alleged murder-for-hire plot. Prosecutors claim Yella Beezy, whose real name is Markies Conway, hired White to kill Mo3 due to a dispute involving the two Dallas rappers. Devin Brown faces charges connected to orchestrating the attack. Both Beezy and Brown have rejected any involvement and are not being tried with White.
White has maintained his plea of not guilty in Noble’s murder. The capital murder trial is set to continue into September, with the prosecution striving to establish that the person in the surveillance footage and the masked gunman on the highway were indeed White.
