In court, several individuals testified in support of Lil Durk‘s defense, including OTF Jam’s wife and his former girlfriend. The jury also viewed Durk’s FBI arrest video.
On September 3, during the murder-for-hire trial involving the Chicago rapper, a diverse group of witnesses took the stand to testify for the defense team.
Among them were Tonya Johnican, sister of Big Country; Kevin Freeman from the rapper’s non-profit Neighborhood Heroes; Sanchay “Dharmic” Jain, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Alamo Records; Shekema Springfield, mother of King Von’s child; and both OTF Jam’s wife and ex-girlfriend, Briana Dangerfield.
According to sources, YouTuber Trap Lore Ross and journalist Taylor Parise from Los Angeles Magazine, who are both covering the trial, reported that Briana Dangerfield, OTF Jam’s ex-girlfriend, was allegedly caught committing perjury.
She claimed she expelled OTF Jam, whose real name is Kacey Hester, from her home because he treated it like a “revolving door” despite her children living there.
“He’s not truthful at all,” she reportedly said of Jam. “He’s a manipulator.”
During the cross-examination, the prosecution challenged Briana’s assertion of maintaining a clean criminal record. Despite her testimony claiming no previous legal issues, the prosecution brought to light a 2016 arrest for forgery and another incident related to theft.
“When you told the jury you’d never been arrested, was that a lie?” the prosecution asked Briana.
“Yes,” she responded.
Lil Durk Trial Coming To A Close
Before the defense presented their witnesses, the jury watched footage of Lil Durk’s FBI arrest in Florida in 2024. FBI Agent Conor Goepel was part of the team that intercepted Durk’s flight on October 24, 2024, from Miami to Dubai.
According to Parise’s reports, defense attorney Christy O’Connor cross-examined Goepel, leading to some tension as she challenged his implication that Durk was “fleeing” the country.
By the end of the day, journalist Michael Blackshire, who is also covering the trial, noted that the defense had completed presenting their case. Lil Durk and his co-defendants, OTF DeDe (Deandre Wilson) and OTF BrownEyez (David Lindsey), will not take the stand.
The court is set to commence closing arguments on September 8.
