BigXthaPlug has officially returned to hip-hop, and he’s coming back with something to prove.
The Dallas rapper has released “BETTER OVER TIME”, his fourth studio album, marking a major new chapter following his successful country music crossover. With 18 tracks and an impressive collection of guest appearances, BigX is reminding the industry that his ambitions extend far beyond one genre.
The project arrives through 600 Entertainment and UnitedMasters, following the success of his 2025 album “I Hope You’re Happy”, which debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200. But this time, BigXthaPlug is putting rap back at the center of the conversation.
BigXthaPlug BETTER OVER TIME Brings Major Collaborations
The 18-track album features an exciting lineup of nine guest artists, including GloRilla, Lil Yachty, Babyface Ray, Leon Thomas, Ava Max, Fridayy, Loe Shimmy, Ro$ama, and Belly Gang Kushington.
Some of the most intriguing collaborations include “BELIEVE” with Babyface Ray and Lil Yachty, “FAF” featuring GloRilla, and “NO LIMIT” with Leon Thomas.
BigX also takes an unexpected creative direction on “BURN” alongside Ava Max, proving that his interest in musical experimentation hasn’t disappeared. Meanwhile, “LITE” featuring Belly Gang Kushington helped build anticipation ahead of the album’s arrival.
Beyond the music, the rollout included billboards across seven cities celebrating the album’s featured artists and a companion short film exploring BigX’s life through his parents’ perspectives.
BigXthaPlug Returns With a Chip on His Shoulder
There’s more behind this release than simply delivering another rap album. BigX previously expressed frustration about the recognition he received in hip-hop compared with the attention surrounding his country crossover.
“I’m stepping back to the rap game with a chip on my shoulder,” he said.
That statement makes “BETTER OVER TIME” particularly interesting. Despite expanding his audience and proving his versatility, BigX clearly wants the hip-hop industry to acknowledge his contributions.
Now that the album is out, the conversation shifts to whether this project can strengthen his position among rap’s biggest names. One thing is undeniable: BigXthaPlug isn’t interested in being boxed into a single genre.
