Cam’ron and J. Cole have resolved their legal dispute concerning their 2024 collaboration, “Ready ’24”, putting an end to the lawsuit surrounding the track.
Cam’ron informed the court that “parties have reached an agreement in principle to resolve the remaining claims in [the lawsuit] and are finalizing the settlement papers.”
The details of the settlement between Cam’ron and J. Cole remain undisclosed, but both parties are reportedly set to finalize the agreement within 30 days.
This resolution stems from a lawsuit filed by Harlem rapper Cam’ron against the Dreamville leader. Cam’ron alleged that after delivering his featured verse on the “Might Delete Later” track “Ready ’24,” Cole had promised to collaborate further by appearing on a Cam’ron song or joining his popular podcast, “It Is What It Is”. However, neither of these commitments materialized.
Cam’ron stated that he recorded the track in 2022 but claimed he was never compensated for his contribution. He sought legal action to be credited as a co-author of the song and demanded over $500,000 in damages.
On the other hand, J. Cole refuted these accusations. In February, his attorneys filed a motion denying any agreement to feature on Cam’ron’s music or digital series.
Eventually, the two rappers reconciled during a March episode of “Talk With Flee”, following the release of J. Cole’s The Fall-Off album. During their conversation, they addressed the lawsuit and resolved their differences.
Cole admitted he felt disappointed by the legal dispute but appears to have left the issue in the past.
“When the lawsuit came out, I was like, ‘Come on Cam,'” he said. “My ego reaction is like, quietly, I’m like, ‘f**k this ni**a.’ But quickly I’m like, ‘But nah I get it though.'”
The Dispet leader acknowledged that his lawsuit against Cole was nothing more than a publicity tactic.
