Eminem and Jelly Roll teamed up for the first time on the album closer of “The Death Of Slim Shady” entitled “Somebody Save Me.”
The duo bring their vision to life with a powerful music video, which arrived on Wednesday (August 21).
In the four-minute visual, Em is on the outside looking in watching his three children replay precious moments from their lives that he missed out on due to his demanding career and struggle with addiction. At the end of the video is a clip of his daughter, Hailie Jade, who got married in May.
“If you need help, you are not alone,” a message reads at the end of the clip, encouraging fans in need of help to visit mental health platform BetterHelp.
“Someone Save Me” prominently samples Jelly Roll’s “Save Me,” which he acknowledged as an honor.
“I related to every word Eminem wrote. I understand him and felt like he understood me, which was rare cause I spent most of my life feeling misunderstood,” Jelly Roll wrote next to a photo of him and Eminem.
Adding, “So you can imagine how I felt when I got that the call that Eminem would be sampling my song “Save Me” on his new album. And for him to use the song to discuss the other side of what could’ve happened if he would’ve allowed his demons to win brought me to tears.”
“The Death of Slim Shady” was released on July 12, led by singles “Houdini” and “Tobey,” featuring BabyTron and Big Sean.
