Kanye West reportedly wants to intensify his artistic relationship with Lil Durk by buying him out of his current recording contract.
The 46-year-old artist is said to be in talks with Durk’s label Alamo Records to buy out his contract, TMZ reported on Monday (November 27).
The celebrity news site explains that the label’s CEO Todd Moscowitz — who co-founded 300 Entertainment and is now the founder and CEO of Alamo Records — allegedly refused to clear Durk’s verse on Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s new song “Vultures.” For that reason, Ye wants to pay to have his fellow Chicago rhymer relieved of his contractual obligations.
When Ye’s “Vultures” with Ty Dolla $ign, Bump J and Durk was initially premiered earlier this month on WPWX Power 92 Chicago, Durkio’s verse was present but when the track landed on streaming services his bars were nowhere to be found.
Although Durk responded to being left off by saying he was “humble” and seemingly unfazed, neither artist shared a reason for the verse being left off, and it’s unclear if it was a creative choice by West or the result of label drama.
In the song “Vultures” , Ye addresses his anti-semitism controversy. “How I’m anti-semitic, I just fucked a Jewish bitch,” he raps. West, 46, has made a number of anti-semitic remarks in the not-too-distant past, including saying he’ll go “death con three on Jewish people,” he can see the “good in Hitler,” and mentioning the “Jewish underground media mafia.”
