“Vultures,” the highly anticipated collabo album of Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, was supposed to be released on December 15, but, to little surprise from Ye fans, it was not dropped.
A representative for Ye confirmed the news to Forbes, further clarifying that the attention-grabbing project will not be unveiled on its scheduled January 12 release date.
“Vultures” has experienced several delays since its initial reveal in October 2023. It was first delayed as the duo shopped for a distributor and was followed by album raves in Miami and Las Vegas. When the album didn’t drop in mid-December, a rep revealed a new December 31 date that was then changed to January 12.
Neither Ye nor Ty have publicly spoken about the reason for the hold up of the album. Some fans have speculated that the release of Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2” this month could have something to do with the delay.
The album also caused controversy before its release due to its choice of cover art: an 1835 painting by Caspar David Friedrich, a German landscape painter whose work was later used to promote Nazi ideology.
“Vultures” is set to feature a total of 18 tracks with guest appearances from the likes of North West, Bump J and Lil Durk, whom Ye wanted to buy out of his record contract.
Stay tuned for more updates.
