Lil Wayne brought up the Super Bowl at Lil Weezyana Fest.
The Louisiana rapper addressed his disappointment of losing out to Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show in February 2025.
Weezy shared the story of getting a suite for his friends and family during the year the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl.
“That moment I said to myself, ‘I wanna be on stage for the Super Bowl, one day, in front of my mom.’ And I worked my ass off to get that f*cking position, and it was ripped away from me.”
“But this motherf*cking moment right here,” Wayne added as the crowd cheered, “they can’t take that, man. They can’t take that from me.”
“I told myself I wanna be on stage at the Super Bowl in front of my mom and I worked my a** off to get that position,” he added. “It was ripped away from me but this moment right here… they can’t take this away from me.”
The decision was met with an onslaught of criticism especially from Lil Wayne’s Young Money/Cash Money family members Nicki Minaj and Birdman.
