Nicki Minaj has been sued for assault, battery and “intentional infliction of emotional distress” by a former tour manager.
TMZ reports that Brandon Garrett, Minaj’s manager around April 2024, is accusing the rapper of physically and verbally assaulting him.
Garrett claims that during a tour stop in Detroit, Minaj slapped him in the face and caused his head to swing backward.
The alleged incident took place backstage at Little Caesars Arena on April 21, 2024, after Minaj’s concert had ended.
Minaj alleged screamed at Garrett in her dressing room, “Are you f*cking crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f*cking mind and if my husband were here, he would knock out your f*cking teeth. You’re a dead man walking. You just f*cked up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I’ll make sure of it.”
Minaj also supposedly repeatedly told him that his “life is over” before striking him on the right side of his face with an open hand.
Garrett alleges that eight people from Minaj’s staff were present in the dressing room. He also alleged that Minaj’s team refused to let him board the tour bus back to Chicago, leaving him stranded in Detroit.
Garrett and his attorneys are now asking for punitive and exemplary damages as well as general damages.
Minaj’s attorney Judd Burstein told TMZ, “At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty, and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations.”
He continued, “However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex-assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favor.”
