Diddy has reached out to Donald Trump in an effort to secure a presidential pardon before his sentencing, scheduled for October.

Although he was acquitted on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, a jury convicted the music mogul on prostitution-related offenses. Currently facing two counts of transportation for prostitution, Diddy could face up to 10 years in prison for each charge. N

Nicole Westmoreland, a member of his defense team, informed CNN that initial discussions regarding a pardon had been taken up with Trump.

According to Westmoreland, “It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon.”

Historically, Trump has expressed reluctance to grant a pardon to Diddy, citing the rapper’s outspoken criticism during his presidency. Reflecting on their past interactions, Trump stated: “I was very friendly with him, I got along with him great, and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile.” Ultimately, he described the act of pardoning Diddy as “difficult.”

Until sentencing in October, Diddy remains in custody after his request for bail was denied. The presiding judge ruled that the defendant failed to demonstrate “exceptional” reasons for being released prior to sentencing. Diddy’s previous history of domestic violence also played a role in the court’s decision.

Interestingly, Diddy received support from Virginia Huynh, an ex-girlfriend who was identified as “Victim-3” during the trial. In an unexpected turn, Huynh penned a letter to the court advocating for bail, reasoning that it would enable Diddy to care for his family and uphold his responsibilities under judicial oversight.
